As expected, Steelers safety Troy Polamalu will sit out Sunday’s game against the Jets with a strained right Achilles’ tendon and a sore calf. He didn’t practice all week and was listed as doubtful on Friday’s injury report.
The Steelers haven’t considered putting Polamalu on season-ending injured reserve, a team source told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora on Saturday, and expect him back this month. Polamalu’s exact return date will be determined by Pittsburgh’s place in the playoff picture
Steelers TE Heath Miller, who suffered a concussion during a Dec. 5 victory over the Ravens, also was ruled out against the Jets. Miller fully practiced Friday and was listed as questionable on the injury report.
