Injury roundup: Wait and see on Favre

  • Brett Favre said during his postgame news conference his shoulder injury was diagnosed as a sprained SC joint, and he’ll have an MRI exam on Monday. Vikings coach Leslie Frazier is sticking by Favre as his starter, as long as he’s healthy.
  • Bills coach Chan Gailey said starting center Geoff Hangartner (knee) and Kraig Urbik (knee), who started at right guard, were likely lost for the season.
  • Bears LB Nick Roach, starting for the injured Pisa Tinoisamoa, suffered a hip injury against the Lions and didn’t return.
  • The Packers lost DT Cullen Jenkins to a left calf injury. Coach Mike McCarthy termed it a strain.
  • The Dolphins lost WR Brian Hartline (finger) and RT Vernon Carey (knee) against the Browns.
  • Browns LB Titus Brown was ruled out after suffering a head injury on the opening kickoff against the Dolphins.
  • The 49ers sustained a number of injuries, as newly signed RB DeShawn Wynn (ankle) left during the first quarter and NT Aubrayo Franklin (groin strain) was injured late, per Matt Maiocco. CB Nate Clements (knee), CB Tarell Brown (right knee) and TE Delanie Walker (ankle) were all able to return.
  • The Jaguars lost starting SS Courtney Green to a shoulder injury.
  • Broncos LB D.J. Williams suffered a right elbow injury, and posted the photo to prove it. TE Dan Gronkowski was carted off the field with a left ankle injury, but later returned.
  • Bucs CB Aqib Talib (hip) and C Jeff Faine (triceps) didn’t return against the Falcons.
  •  Darren Sproles took a big hit from Raiders LB Rolando McClain, and was later ruled out by the Chargers with a concussion.
  • Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez limped off the field late in the game against the Bucs with a left leg injury.
  • Seahawks coach Pete Carroll confirmed WR Mike Williams sustained an ankle injury and said WR Ben Obomanu suffered a severe cut to his right hand. CB Roy Lewis (knee) also left the game.
  • Cowboys rookie WR Dez Bryant fractured his left ankle against the Colts and is out for the season. Nickel back Orlando Scandrick left the game with a concussion.
  • It was a short day for Cardinals QB Max Hall, who replaced an ineffective Derek Anderson but was later sidelined by a dislocated shoulder.
  • Colts CB Jarraud Powers (arm) didn’t return against the Cowboys, and RB Mike Hart also limped off the field.
  • Ravens TE Todd Heap (hamstring) was injured early against the Steelers.
