Lombardi: QB issues cloud Fisher’s return to Titans

Unfortunately for the Titans, one of the most popular questions around the NFL right now is this: Who will be left standing in Tennessee, Jeff Fisher or Vince Young?
While both are under contract for 2011, many not named Bud Adams believe the two can’t co-exist in Tennessee following the recent postgame confrontation between coach and quarterback.
NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi told “NFL Total Access” on Monday that Fisher and the Titans have a mutual contract option heading into 2011. Lombardi believes Fisher’s return hinges on the resolution of the quarterback issue and the potential impact of Young’s salary cap number.
“I think Fisher would clearly like to be there,” Lombardi said. “He’s built the program, the team is built in his style and manner. He’s got the coaches there that he wants. However, the quarterback issue has to be resolved.”
“If we go back to a cap situation, Vince Young’s cap number will be $15 million next year. That’s tough to live with [for] a player who doesn’t really have the work ethic, the desire, the leadership skills that Fisher is looking for.”
