Report: Gates will try to play

The San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that TE Antonio Gates is going to try to play Monday night against the Broncos. Gates (foot) is listed as questionable.

At this point, however, you are likely pot committed, to borrow a poker phrase, with Gates with TE Randy McMichael as a backup.

The Chargers have been hit with injuries in recent weeks with RB Ryan Mathews (ankle) inactive, according to the newspaper, and WR Legedu Naanee (hamstring) expected to miss Monday’s game. WR Malcom Floyd (hamstring) is expected to return.
