Newman back, but Jenkins out for Cowboys

UPDATE: The Cowboys announced during the third quarter that Jenkins has been ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Just as Terence Newman made his way back to the field for the Cowboys on Sunday, they lost their other starting cornerback — Mike Jenkins — to a reported neck injury.

Newman returned to Sunday’s game against the Giants late during the second quarter after leaving early on due to¬†an ankle injury. His return was vital for the Cowboys, because several plays earlier Jenkins left the sideline with what the FOX game broadcast said was as a neck injury.

Without their starting cornerbacks, the Cowboys had turned to Orlando Scandrick and rookie Bryan McCann, the only other options on the active roster. McCann has certainly done his part, returning an Eli Manning pass 101 yards for a touchdown.

The Giants don’t have the services of the inactive¬†Steve Smith, but still present a tough matchup with Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham and even big but raw Ramses Barden. This could be a deciding factor during the second half.
