Saints TE Shockey sidelined by injured ribs

UPDATE:┬áSaints coach Sean Payton said during his postgame news conference that Shockey was taken to the hospital as a “precautionary measure” & X-rays were negative.The Associated Press tweeted that Shockey was able to walk under his own power.

Saints TE Jeremy Shockey left Sunday’s game against the Panthers with a rib injury and is questionable to return.

Shockey hauled in a 7-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees during the first quarter, but the tight end took a hard hit on the play and was slow to get up. He has been taken to the locker room, and David Thomas was in on the last drive for the Saints.
