Panthers RB Stewart exits game with head injury

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart was carted off the sideline late in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Saints, a potentially crippling blow for a Carolina team that’s already without backfield mate DeAngelo Williams.
Stewart suffered a head injury on a 5-yard run that ended with a fumble. He appeared to be woozy when he got to his feet, and the Panthers officially announced him as questionable to return.
Without Williams, and potentially Stewart, the Panthers likely will turn to a combination of Mike Goodson and Tyrell Sutton, who was on the field to start the next series. Williams was inactive against the Saints because of a foot injury that also caused him to sit out last week’s game.
