Moore injures shoulder; Clausen now Panthers’ QB

UPDATE: A bad day continues to get worse for the Panthers, who announced at the start of the second half that Moore, Stewart and Connor will not return to the game against the Saints. Tyrell Sutton, the team’s third-string running back behind Stewart and DeAngelo Williams, also has left the game with an ankle injury. Mike Goodson is the only other running back on Carolina’s roster.
An injury has forced the Panthers to switch from veteran Matt Moore to rookie Jimmy Clausen at QB.
Moore is questionable to return after injuring his right shoulder during the second quarter against the Saints. Moore was injured while taking a sack, and he left the field holding the shoulder.
The Associated Press reported that Moore tried to throw on the sideline, but he winced in pain and left for the locker room.
That’s not a positive sign for the Panthers, who might have Clausen under center for the rest of the game. The Panthers already had lost RB Jonathan Stewart (head) and LB Dan Connor (hip) to injuries in the game.
