It has been an odd day for injuries around the NFL. Chargers punter Mike Scifres hurt his left leg on a blocked punt. Patriots kicker Steven Gostkowski is suffering from a thigh injury. And finally, veteran kicker Jason Hanson is out for the Lions.
Hanson left the game with what he Associated Press called a right knee injury during the third quarter after he was hit by the Jets’ Trevor Pryce while attempting a 21-yard field goal. Pryce was called for roughing the kicker on the play.
Hanson’s injury left rookie DT Ndamukong Suh to attempt an extra point (he missed) following Matthew Stafford‘s 1-yard touchdown run. Punter Nick Harris is handling kickoffs for Detroit.
At one point on the sideline after trying to warm up, Hanson threw his helmet down in disgust. It looks like his day is done. We’ll keep you updated on what is a close game between the Jets and Lions.
