Hello, NFL fans, it’s Ralph Lanier Jr. , your 2010 NFL Director of Fandemonium. My recent visit to London for the 2010 International Series game was an amazing experience. The game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos was exciting for all the European NFL fans. I arrived on Saturday and after checking in at the hotel, my wife and I made our way to the huge NFL rally at Trafalgar Square in Central London. There, we saw a huge crowd that was full of fans representing all the teams of the NFL. The 49ers’ “Gold Rush” cheerleaders performed some dance routines and coach Mike Singletary spoke to the fans about the big game. Jerry Rice and a few of the 49ers’ players were also in attendance. Later that night we went to one of Gordon Ramsey’s restaurants for an awesome meal, then visited Oxford Street for some shopping.
Early on Sunday, we visited the Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels and then the London Eye. After seeing the sights of London, we made our way out to Wembley Stadium for the Tailgate party and my experience began by attending the pregame warmups down on the field. My task for today was to help out with releasing the teams to run out of the tunnel and onto the field. It was so exciting for me to see all the players ready to play. The intensity in their eyes is incredible to see for a fan. I made the quick trip to my seat for kickoff and the fans were really enjoying the game. Each fan in our area was given a 49ers flag and they were waving them nonstop most of the game. In the second half, the 49ers came from behind to pull out the victory! The whole experience was wonderful! The fans here were loud and crazy! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. It was truly an international crowd. I met fans from several European countries — Italy, Spain, and even some German fans came over to see the game. I would recommend to anyone that they make the trip to see this game next year!
My wife and I would like to thank the NFL and Monster.com for all they did to make this a fantastic experience. My next entry will be after the Thanksgiving night game. Until then, continue to enjoy this amazing sport. May your team be victorious this week and hopefully make a run for the playoffs.
Thanks, NFL fans, for all your support and remember to show your “Fandemonium” at a game near you.
