First it was Jermichael Finley. Then it was Dallas Clark. Now another elite fantasy tight end is dealing with what could be a serious injury.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Antonio Gates “popped” the plantar fascia in his right foot during last week’s win over the Titans. He initially aggravated the ailment against the Patriots in Week 7.
“My (right) foot was on fire,” Gates said of the aftermath of the New England game. “It was so bad, it was like my toe and ankle didn’t bother me anymore.”
Gates, who was already dealing with left toe and ankle ailments, could be in danger of missing Week 9.
If he is unable to play, Randy McMichael would have sudden value against a Texans defense that has allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
