Chargers coach Norv Turner told reporters on Monday that he was not optimistic that injured WRs Malcom Floyd, Legedu Naanee and Buster Davis will return to the team’s lineup this week (via the San Diego Union-Tribune).
“I’m not encouraged,” Turner said. “Malcom (Floyd) might have a chance, but I’m not (optimistic). Legedu (Naanee), I think, will have a tough time getting back. Buster (Davis), we’ll see on Wednesday.”
The Chargers will likely have to turn to WRs Patrick Crayton, Gary Banks — an NFL.com On the Fringe Player — and Seyi Ajirotutu. None appear to be much of a fantasy option, considering that QB Philip Rivers likes to spread the ball around. Appears he learned that from QB Drew Brees during their time together in San Diego.
The Chargers, it appears, could certainly use some receiving help. But hey, it’s not like there are any future Hall of Fame receivers that have been dumped on to the streets. Especially none that have a history with Turner. That would be awesome if that happened, though. But come on, that would never happen.
