Chargers TE Gates in protective boot

Chargers TE Antonio Gates is in a protective boot, after leaving Sunday’s game at St. Louis early with an ankle injury, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

WR Malcom Floyd left the game with a hamstring injury and did not return. Already thinning the Chargers receiving corps which started the game without Legedu Naanee.

Are the Chargers going to be rolling with Patrick Crayton and Buster Davis next week? Crayton did have 117 yards and Davis had a touchdown, but neither can match what Gates brings to the offense. The Chargers — and QB Philip Rivers — could be in serious trouble here.
