Will Favre be a distraction for Vikings?

Amid reports Brett Favre allegedly sent racy messages and lewd photos to a team sideline reporter when he played for the Jets in 2008, the Vikings have a game to play Monday night in New Jersey.
We’ve become accustomed to the sideshow (we like to call it Favre Watch) that Favre has created with his indecision in the past, but will this story — a situation NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed the league is looking into — be a distraction for the Vikings in the locker room and on the field?
While Favre has declined to address the controversy that threatens to overshadow the return of Randy Moss — and for many his lack of a denial only fuels the story — it leaves his teammates to do so.
Among the NFL Network analysts, Marshall Faulk, Steve Mariucci and Warren Sapp don’t believe it will cause a distraction, while Michael Irvin believes anything that keeps the Vikings from thinking about football has an impact.
We’ll find out after kickoff.
