Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio called Mike Sims-Walker trade speculation “garbage” and that the team was going to proceed with plans to ruin the young receiver’s career.
All right, that last part might have been a fabrication. But the Jaguars will keep Sims-Walker, and I am not optimistic about his fantasy value going forward. Sims-Walker finally produced on Sunday, scoring a touchdown against the Bills — only his second of the season. Although you would like to think that this might be Sims-Walker getting more involved in the offense, you have to remember that this was against the Bills.
Games against the Bills should probably not count in fantasy because they are just too easy. Hey, even Bills owner Ralph Wilson said that the Bills only have “pain and patience” to look forward to. Although Wilson did stop short of saying that he hasn’t seen a football team this bad since “talkies became popular and the Rochester Jeffersons went winless in 1922.”
But relying on Sims-Walker is going to be hard to do until he can show some consistency.
