If the Minnesota Vikings expect Randy Moss to walk through that door … oh, wait. That just happened, didn’t it?
Optimism abounds in Minnesota following the homecoming of Moss, and it isn’t limited to the fans or media. We’ve heard from a number of Vikings over their excitement of adding the wide receiver many believe will awaken the vertical passing game, the latest being the recovering Sidney Rice.
Rice blogged about his excitement Thursday, saying Moss “could take us to the next level” while noting the impact the added presence will have on opposing defenses.
“It’s going to be hard for other teams to stop our offense, especially when I’m back out there. With me and Randy, plus Bernard (Berrian) and Percy (Harvin), it’s going to be interesting to see what defenses do against us. I know Adrian (Peterson) is loving it, it’s really going to open up the field more for him, too. Randy has been stretching the field his whole career and I can’t wait to see Brett (Favre) throwing him the ball.”
How quickly Rice returns from his hip injury, though, is still very much in question. Still on crutches, Rice says he’ll have a better idea following a doctor’s appointment on Monday.
