Brady: ‘Randy really knows how I feel about him’

The Patriots returned to practice on Thursday, and we began to get a sense of their reaction following the trade of Randy Moss to the Vikings.

Michael Vega noted a sense of shock among the players, but also the realization the move was a business decision. Wes Welker expressed disappointment at the idea Moss wanted out of New England, per Jeff Howe. Erik Scalavino observed a business-like approach.

One voice missing from the equation was the most important one. Tom Brady wasn’t made available during the Patriots’ open locker room session, but a taped preview of an interview he did with “Patriots All Access” was posted on the team Website.

“Randy really knows how I feel about him, I love him as a guy, as a person, as a player,” Brady said. “He did a lot of great things for this team. You know, at the same time, I think coach Belichick feels that that’s what he thinks he needs to do for the team. So we as players, we deal with it and we move on. I think I’ve been around long enough to realize that nothing really surprises me, and the best thing for me to do is be the best quarterback I can be for the team.”

It’s not much, but its the first from Brady as he throws some love toward Moss. One has to expect the vanilla reaction as Brady unequivocally toes the line between his friend, the guy upstairs who signs his paychecks, and his current teammates.
