Mayock: Expect Vick to maintain high level

Maybe it’s a reach to say Michael Vick was an afterthought entering the season, but he was pretty far off the radar for most. As circumstances of the NFL season have dictated, three weeks later Vick has now been embraced as the answer in Philadelphia.
My, how things change.
Vick has exceeded all expectations as the hottest thing going in the NFL right now, his play on the field leaving very little room for doubt among analysts. Vick’s statistics are eye-popping, and he’s shown marked improvement as a pocket passer. Andy Reid called him “brilliant.” Most important, the Eagles are 2-0 with Vick at the helm.
But is the Vick we’re seeing the real Vick?
Playbook analyst Mike Mayock has watched the tape, and offered his take on what’s next for Vick.
“I’ve watched impressive play from Vick for 10 consecutive quarters,” Mayock said during his weekly live chat on NFL.com. “I trust the tape more than I trust the numbers, and they’re both very, very good. At this point, Vick is playing at an extremely high level and he’s doing it with consistency. Unless he reverts back to the wildly erratic QB from Atlanta, I would expect to see him perform at a high level throughout the year.”
Some have suggested Vick is a better quarterback now than at any other point in his career. Charles Davis noted Vick has shown maturity by immersing himself into being a quarterback.
Until something changes, Vick will have every opportunity to keep these superlatives flowing.
