Mathews says that he is pain free

Chargers RB Ryan Mathews said today that he was able to get after it and is feeling like his normal self again.

The real pain will be trying to figure out how the Chargers will use him going forward.

There are a couple of reasons to be optimistic about Mathews. For starters, Mike Tolbert did not really set the world on fire replacing Mathews last week. Which had to be great news to those who took Mathews high and were fearing that Tolbert was going to take this opportunity and run. Thankfully, Tolbert “Billy Gunned” his chance.

And the Chargers have the Cardinals this week, too, which is a solid matchup. So that is the case for Mathews.

But does Tolbert have enough juice to garner more goal-line carries? Will the Chargers ease Mathews back into the lineup? There will be enough time to figure that out. But if you are already pot-committed with Mathews, this certainly should be viewed as good news.
