Is there a chance Matthew Stafford could play in Week 3? For what it’s worth, Jim Schwartz isn’t denying it.
Stafford suffered an injury to his throwing shoulder in the season opener and was believed by many to be out between four and six weeks, although Schwartz has never offered up a timetable on the quarterback’s return.
“It just really depends on how he’s feeling, and if he’s feeling good and throwing well, can make all the throws, then we make that decision, and if he’s not, then we hold him back,” Schwartz told reporters, via Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 radio. “But it’ll be judged on him and how he’s feeling — not an artificial timetable that we set before we even knew where we were going with it.”
Stafford did not practice Wednesday according to the team’s injury report. Schwartz had little to lose by keeping the Vikings guessing between Stafford, even if it is a long shot, and Shaun Hill.
