Williams becomes a popular name on the wire

Finding a running back on the waiver wire at this point of the season is like trying to find a vegan in Nebraska. There is typically less desperation at closing time of your average tavern.
When guys like Keiland Williams become the hot name on the waiver wire, that is rather telling.
But Williams is fantasy-relevant following the Redskins’ release of RB Larry Johnson. Williams becomes the team’s No. 2 running back, which might not be a bad option considering that he is backing up Clinton Portis, who has had his fair share of health problems in recent weeks.
Grabbing Williams will not produce immediate dividends unless Portis is more banged up than we thought. But Williams is definitely worth adding to your team this week if you are in deeper leagues. The only warning here is that Jason La Canfora believes that Johnson was cut so the Redskins could add a special-teams player. Meaning Johnson could be added later in the season. So there is some risk.
