Playbook analysts Brian Baldinger, Mike Mayock and Sterling Sharpe took an in-depth look at the decision to make Michael Vick the starter for the Philadelphia Eagles. All agreed it was the right call by Andy Reid because Vick gives the Eagles their best chance to win.
“I don’t think this was a difficult decision for Andy Reid,” Baldinger said. “When he went back and watched the tapes — because all coaches are afraid to really say anything until they watch it — the play was brilliant. (Vick) exceeded all expectations here. It’s really simple for this reason: Reid is paid to win football games, and Vick simply gives them a better chance to win games.”
During his news conference Tuesday, Reid said he believes Kevin Kolb will benefit by continuing to mature. Mayock isn’t buying it.
“If anybody believes that it’s good for Kevin Kolb’s developement to sit on the bench, like Reid (said), I’ve got some real estate I want to sell you.”
Well played, Mayock.
