So what now happens with Eagles backup QB Kevin Kolb? Sometimes the best thing you can do to a person is dump them, because it motivates them to get into the gym and work harder than ever before.
But what about your fantasy roster? Is it worth even keeping Kolb?
Eagles coach Andy Reid would not say that Michael Vick is going to be his starter for the rest of the season. Not that I am complaining, considering he did all of us a huge favor by making this move on Tuesday.
However — and this is just a guess — it did sound like Vick would stay the starter as long as he is performing well. Coach Reid pointed out that he cannot sit one of the hottest quarterbacks in the league.
If you are using Kolb as a handcuff for Vick, you are probably good there, roster room permitting. Although you would probably want to pick up a guy like Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman to be a bye-week starter in Week 8.
But if you have Kolb backing up, say, a quarterback like Eli Manning, Matt Ryan, et al, I would dump him. Unless, of course, you have an extremely deep roster that allows you to also add Freeman or maybe Kyle Orton. Kolb has more value than other demoted backs, such as Matt Moore, for instance. But evaluate your situation and make sure you have at least one starting quarterback backing up your No. 1 QB.
