Redskins’ Hall: ‘This is my defense’

Well, at least DeAngelo Hall isn’t afraid to tell us what he really thinks.
Hall wasn’t happy watching Andre Johnson catch a game-tying 34-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter in Sunday’s overtime loss to the Texans, and he plans on doing something about it.
First, Hall explained the Redskins had the perfect play call to defend Johnson, but failed in execution. Cornerback Phillip Buchanon and safety Reed Doughty were in coverage.
“Shouldn’t have happened,” Hall told John Keim of The Washington Examiner. ”We had the perfect play call. Just didn’t make the play. Shouldn’t have happened. Should have never happened.”
Hall’s solution? He came back on Monday saying he’s going to follow the other team’s top receiver, and “that’s just the way it is,” per Jason Reid of The Washington Post. Here are Hall’s words, courtesy of Rich Campbell of The Free Lance-Star.
“That’s how it was; it ain’t how it’s gonna be from here on out,” Hall said about playing only one side of the field. “I’m going wherever the [obscenity] ball is going. Wherever the receiver is going, that’s where the [obscenity] I’m going.”
Of course, DC Jim Haslett probably makes that call.
“It don’t matter what he say,” Hall told Campbell. “This [is] my team. This [is] my defense. I’m gonna follow the receivers around. If we’ve got to do that to win games, that’s what I’m gonna do.”
