Lions coach Schwartz has confidence in Hill

Lions coach Jim Schwartz said that he has complete confidence in backup QB Shaun Hill. Yeah, wish I could join you out on that ledge there Schwartz.
Having already been burned by the Lions’ fantasy performers, you can understand some hesitation to jump back on the bandwagon again. Honestly, you would have thought that this blog was based in Grosse Pointe considering the amount of Lions hype over the past week. And not just for QB Matthew Stafford, either. Rookie RB Jahvid Best and WR Calvin Johnson were high on the fantasy lists prior to Sunday.
I even predicted that Stafford would have more fantasy points than Jay Cutler this week during our bold predictions on NFL.com Fantasy Live. I was in it for about a half until Stafford was injured.
NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora initially reported that Stafford could be out four to six weeks. Schwartz said that he would know more on Wednesday. No matter how long Stafford’s absence is, it will be a blow to the Lions fantasy prospects.
Obviously, Hill is not a starter at this point. Best might see more carries, but the offense is just not as dynamic without Stafford. Johnson could still put up some pretty decent numbers. If you add in his 25-yard touchdown catch that wasn’t, he ends up with a 12-point day in standard leagues, so that is not terrible.
Overall, my enthusiasm for the Lions is officially curbed. But am I to blame for believing in the Lions in the first place? If nothing else, I hope that the Lions faithful dub me an honorary member. Maybe I will even go out and purchase a Bobby Layne throwback.
