Overreaction Theater: Seahawks are for real

The Seahawks have made a statement. At least, that is what the pundits would have you believe.

But can you really trust any of the Seahawks on your fantasy team?

Matt Hasselbeck was due for one of these games. But an injury scare hangs over him like the Sword of Damocles. Hasselbeck makes Raiders RB Darren McFadden look like an iron man. The Seahawks split 21 rushing attempts among three running backs, meaning all of them are useless in fantasy circles. Although, I will concede WR Mike Williams could be a nice pickup.

So let’s not overreact to the Seahawks’ win. In fact, we should go back to my Fantasy Live chat when I noted that the 49ers are undeserving of the praise they receive every season. Honestly, how long is QB Alex Smith going to be allowed to struggle as an NFL quarterback?

At least the Cardinals got smart and jettisoned Matt Leinart after it became apparent that he would not be the guy.

So I would temper your fantasy football enthusiasm in regards to all of the Seahawks other than Williams. Wait until the Seahawks play a real opponent. Oh wait, the Seahawks are in the NFC West … so that might never happen.
