Talk to anybody who drafted Brett Favre this year, and they are not happy about it.
NFL.com Fantasy Live host Michelle Beisner is not thrilled. Reader Matt P. is not thrilled about it. Even I have Favre on one of my teams. And even then, I would rather have car-crash Tom Brady over Favre.
The Favre situation, though, has made people fantasy despondent. Do you risk playing Favre today, have him fall on your face while heading into the weekend knowing that your quarterback has already sunk your team? Or do you bench him, and watch him throw for 600 yards and five touchdowns against the Saints and you spend the weekend kicking yourself for not starting him?
Beisner is so concerned about Favre that she is contemplating going with Titans QB Vince Young. Alright, that is your classic over-think right there. Favre is a much better option than Young, so lets end the debate right there.
My stable of quarterbacks on this team includes Favre, Ben Roethlisberger and Matthew Stafford. And to be honest, I am leaning toward Stafford right now. The Saints designed a defense that kept Favre out of the end zone, even though he reached 300 passing yards in the NFC Championship Game. Plus the Vikings are probably going to attack the Saints with a steady does of Adrian Peterson, to take the pressure off Favre who spent most of his summer recovering from ankle surgery.
I would start Favre if my choices were Young or Alex Smith. But I am likely going with Stafford.
