McNabb: ‘Skins can’t win without Haynesworth

Donovan McNabb is throwing his public support behind the embattled Albert Haynesworth.
Amid a report that the Redskins and Titans are discussing a trade of Haynesworth — to which Tennessee general manager Mike Reinfeldt isn’t commenting, but also not denying — McNabb said during his weekly radio show that everybody knows the defensive lineman plays “a major part” in Washington’s defense.
“Albert is one of our brothers in the locker room … he understands, ‘Hey, I got to put the time and effort in,” McNabb said. “We can’t win without him. I think he’ll be here. I hope he’ll be here.”
That’s an interesting comment coming from the Redskins’ new vocal leader on a player who has been routinely criticized throughout the offseason, including an underwhelming review of his performance in the preseason finale from defensive coordinator Jim Haslett.
Those appear to be carefully chosen words from McNabb.
