McFadden will get his chance; well, another chance

Raiders RB Darren McFadden said recently that he was ready for 25 carries. And I thought, you know, that is a nice modest goal for McFadden to reach for this season.

Turns out that McFadden was talking about 25 carries for Week 1.

And after a good chuckle, I thought that McFadden should go use that line at a local open mic because honestly, that was a pretty good quip that would likely bring the house down. McFadden has not topped 20 attempts since he had 21 against the Chiefs in Week 2 of 2008. He has been a disappointment since.

McFadden could get his chance because Michael Bush could be out a while. And many of you will be tempted to take him. Fantasy Live host Michelle Beisner is rolling with McFadden. Still, hard to imagine McFadden finally put it all together here.

Look for the Raiders to make a push to add some depth to the backfield. There figures to be a couple of players springing loose over the next two days, either via trade or roster cuts. The Raiders cannot roll into the season with McFadden and Rock Cartwright. Well, they could, but that would be a stretch, even for the Raiders.

There are a number of teams such as the Bills, Ravens, and Panthers which are brimming with excess running backs. Expect somebody to be added to the mix over the weekend.
