Overreaction Theater: Draft Bradford in the first round

All right, you guys understand how preseason works, right? Understandable that fans in St. Louis are starving for any positive signs from preseason, but the rest of us need to keep some perspective.
St. Louis QB Sam Bradford was perfect Thursday night, completing 6 of 6 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. But, again, enthusiasts, we are talking about preseason.
I will predict that people who start the Cardinals defense in Week 1 thinking that St. Louis will roll over are in for a rude awakening. Bradford getting off to a hot start is possible. But defensive coordinators will start scheming against the No. 1 overall draft pick, who will endure the ups and downs that many rookie quarterbacks face.
There will certainly be weeks in which Bradford has a game where you wish you had started him. But he will follow that up with an absolute clunker. Just look at Matt Ryan‘s rookie season. Ryan, of course, being a close parallel to Bradford.
Bradford’s talent is enticing, but we are at least a year away from seeing any fantasy return.
