The Cardinals will give QB Derek Anderson a chance to prove that he should be the team’s signal caller as they travel to Chicago to take on the Bears.

Saints WR Robert Meachem has the most potential of all of the Saints receivers, at least fantasy wise. Meachem has been recovering from offseason toe surgery after scoring nine touchdowns for the Saints in 2009. But still, he can duplicate and maybe even surpass those numbers this season.

The Redskins’ game against the Jets on Friday night was intended to be the “showcase” game for veteran Willie Parker, his opportunity to star and get more involved in the backfield competition with Clinton Portis and Larry Johnson.

If the possibility the Cardinals cut Matt Leinart is very real, what happens next?

Football fanatics and fantasy enthusiasts alike have wondered why Chiefs coach Todd Haley has kept Jamaal Charles as the No. 2 running back on the depth chart. Didn’t he see what Charles has been doing with the rock this preseason? He’s the next Barry Word!

Kudos to Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio for resting Maurice Jones-Drew for the preseason. Why do people want this guy to play right now anyway?

Another rookie who has landed a starting spot — at least for this week — is Vikings CB Chris Cook.

We’ve heard that Antonio Bryant is feeling that he’s closer to returning to the field. Beyond that, much about Bryant’s immediate future is still up in the air.

Falcons RB Michael Turner is poised for a big season. Talking to various NFL Network talent, Turner is more focused this year and dedicated. And the Falcons are going to give him the ball plenty. And then, you add in the Falcons’ recent push to get him the ball in the air … I smell a big year for Turner.

While Bucs rookie WR Mike Williams has drawn positive reviews throughout training camp and preseason, the competition to start opposite him is still very much undecided.

As you would imagine, Matt Leinart isn’t happy about not starting Saturday’s preseason game against the Chicago Bears. Despite his current demotion behind Derek Anderson, he still plans on starting the regular-season opener.

St. Louis QB Sam Bradford is drawing some positive reviews after his performance against the Patriots on Thursday. And rightly so. But for purely fantasy purposes, it was another rookie who should have captured your attention.

The fantasy love affair with Donnie Avery started in Week 7 of the 2008 season. I picked up Avery as an injury replacement and was pleasantly surprised when he had 55 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Cowboys.

The Seattle Seahawks equipment staff punked ‘Hawks players and coaches this week with a prank that turned 300-pound lineman into jelly.
