Whisenhunt says process isn’t personal

The Cardinals don’t have an official starting quarterback, coach Ken Whisenhunt has no timetable to name a starter, and he seems very content to keep it that way.
“Who knows? Maybe we’ll keep them guessing,” Whisenhunt told reporters on Monday.
So there’s that.
Meanwhile, Matt Lineart told reporters he believes he’s outplayed Derek Anderson, while suggesting Whisenhunt’s decision “probably goes beyond football.” The insinuation could be taken that Leinart knows he isn’t Whisenhunt’s guy, and the reasons are personal. Or, that Leinart knows it could come down to intangibles.
It’s key to know that Whisenhunt inherited Leinart when he took over the Cardinals’ job. As for the inference by Leinart, Whisenhunt had this to say when it was brougth up by reporters:
“I’ve been with Matt for four years now; I have great respect for how Matt has worked,” he said. “I don’t know where that comes from. I think we have been consistent … is always trying to pick the best team and pick the best players to try and win. That’s what this process is about, it’s not whether you like somebody or don’t like somebody. It’s more about what you feel is right for the team. I have great affection for Matt and the way he has worked and what he has gone through, so I want to dispel that right away.”
