Overreaction Theater: Charles’ fumble dooms Chiefs

Football fanatics and fantasy enthusiasts alike have wondered why Chiefs coach Todd Haley has kept Jamaal Charles as the No. 2 running back on the depth chart. Didn’t he see what Charles has been doing with the rock this preseason? He’s the next Barry Word!

So what happened this week? Charles gets the start and fumbles on his first snap. The first snap in the renovated Arrowhead Stadium, mind you. If that is a omen for the Chiefs, this team is doomed. Charles is going to languish on the bench and Thomas Jones will get 400 touches this year! It’s going to happen!

Or maybe not.

Haley should not be confused with Texans coach Gary Kubiak. Because just as Jones fumbled and returned immediately last week, Charles was out for the team’s second series. No worries, people. Continue to target Charles in the second round.

And now we draw a close to the curtains on this act of Overreaction Theater.
