Payton: No decision yet on Sharper

The last time we heard from him, Darren Sharper said he had “no idea” when he would return to the practice field. Two weeks later, and Sharper still has yet to practice with the team.

Saints coach Sean Payton told reporters no decision has been made about placing Sharper on the physically-unable-to-perform list and declined to give any type of timetable on his return.

The thinking had been that Sharper would be activated from the active/PUP list during the first two weeks of training camp. If Sharper is placed on the reserve/PUP list, he would be required to miss the first six weeks of the season.

As it stands, there doesn’t appear to be any progress for Sharper. According to The Times Picayune, he hasn’t increased his workload on the practice field.

Saints LB Clint Ingram also remains on the active/PUP and has yet to practice.
