It sounds like Bears fans might be able to exhale.
Although Brian Urlacher didn’t practice on Monday, according to multiple reports, but the calf strain that he called “no big deal” appears to be just that — nothing major.
Bears coach Lovie Smith didn’t have much to say about the injury, but reiterated it’s not a cause for concern, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
“We need him,” Smith said. “He had an outstanding camp. We need him out there and he will be.”
Urlacher was injured during the first series of the Bears’ 32-17 loss to the Raiders on Saturday. Urlacher is in the middle — literally and figuratively — of what the Bears do defensively, so the team might consider itself lucky the non-major injury happened in the second week of the preseason and not later.
