Overreaction Theater II: Rivers taking Mathews’ carries

Chargers backup RB Mike Tolbert got a goal-line carry last week, and the hysteria among fantasy enthusiasts was palpable. Rookie RB Ryan Mathews was going to lose carries on the goal line, some yelped. Like they were George Costanza or something.

I do not want to say that there is going to be a similar outbreak this week, but I think that QB Philip Rivers just drove the monkey to the airport when he scored on a 1-yard touchdown plunge. Rivers is taking away carries! RIVERS IS TAKING AWAY CARRIES!

Well, you can relax guys. If you noticed, Mathews was lined up in the backfield when Rivers scored, not Tolbert. So let’s take a moment and relax. And please, do not overreact. Mathews is going to have plenty of goal-line attempts.
