Patriots WR Wes Welker is out running wind sprints on the turf at the Georgia Dome — in anticipation of Thursday night’s game in Atlanta — and the Twitter universe is blowing up.

Everybody is speculating … will he play? Won’t he play? All why ignoring the fact that this is a preseason game, people. There are now even Twit pics! Log on to see Welker running right now!

But yes, I will admit that I am anxiously waiting to see if Welker is going to play. This would be the apex of a rather remarkable comeback story.

Plus, of course, there are the fantasy implications.

Welker is currently coming off the board in the sixth round of most NFL fantasy drafts (at least according to the average draft position). So if he can come back and show something during the preseason, his stock should jump higher.
