Bills coach Chan Gailey told the team’s official Web site that he expects rookie RB C.J. Spiller to get a lot of reps against the defending AFC champions on Thursday night.
”I think he’s going to get a lot of good reps that he needs to get because he missed I think nine practices in training camp,” Gailey said. “He’s going to get some good reps, but there will be a lot more diversity from him as time goes on in this offense.”
Spiller, of course, is going to get ample opportunities because of injuries to running backs Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch. Gailey did not divulge what Spiller’s role with the team will be. That seems odd because NFL coaches typically want to tip their hand during the second preseason game.
Yes, I was joking.
But Gailey probably wants to get a number of looks at Spiller, and really, until the injury situation is settled, there is a lot of different directions the team could take.
And hey, if you have nothing to do tonight and are bored with the current season of Big Brother like I am, check out NFL Preseason Live to catch this game.
