Steve Smith back for Giants

While Eli Manning will stay off the practice field, Steve Smith is back on it.

Smith returned from a groin injury to practice with the Giants on Wednesday, according to a Tweet from the team. Smith missed more than a week of practice as well as the team’s preseason opener against the Jets. The good news was that a recent MRI exam revealed nothing seriously wrong with the groin, according to the New York Post.

Smith had a breakout season in 2009 with a franchise record 107 receptions.

Two other players the Giants are bringing along slowly — LB Keith Bulluck and FS Kenny Phillips — also practiced on Wednesday, according to the Star-Ledger.
