Garcon, Clark will miss Thursday’s game

Colts WR Pierre Garcon and TE Dallas Clark are expected to miss Thursday’s preseason game against the Bills, according to the team’s official Web site.

Much ado about nothing or further fuel for the notion that teams coming off Super Bowl losses tend to struggle the following season?

We can make that judgment later.

Garcon is listed as the starter opposite Reggie Wayne, though his injury figures to give more of an opportunities to Austin Collie — who started last week — and the recovering Anthony Gonzalez. Coach Jim Caldwell toldĀ  the Tribune Star of Terre Haute, Ind., that Garcon is close to returning to the practice field. I expect Garcon to entrench himself as the No. 2 guy if he is healthy. But Collie is the next option if Garcon’s injury lingers.

And let’s be honest about Clark; he could miss the entire preseason, show up during Week 1 and still be money.
