Who and the heck is Victor Cruz?

Normally you do not pay too much attention to receivers with this single-digit number during the preseason. Those are typically the practice bodies that will have an awesome story to tell their grandchildren about how they went to training camp with the New York Giants.
Something tells me that there will be more to WR Victor Cruz‘s story.
The undrafted receivers out of UMassĀ (seriously, UMass has a team?) had quite a coming out party for the Giants on Monday night, hauling in 6 receptions for 145 yards and three touchdowns.
How big was this performance? LeBron James actually took the time away from his attention-seeking schedule to Tweet about him (via the New York Times).
So what does this mean for Cruz? Remember, then-rookie Hakeem Nicks had a similar strong performance against the Jets last preseason. And there is always a rush to add guys to “sleeper” lists after a huge game. But show some restraint.
Coach Tom Coughlin has been crazy about Cruz all summer long, and you all saw why on Monday night. Cruz will take over as the team’s No. 4 receiver if he continues to play like this. But he has some guys to jump over.
Cruz’s only fantasy value right now is in dynasty leagues, but the waiver hawks will be keeping an eye out for him.
