Favre drama illustrates important lesson for all of us

There will be a couple of themes that I will be hitting on during the push to Kickoff Weekend. First, Chris Cooley will have a monster season for the Redskins. Second, John Harbaugh hates your fantasy team. But most importantly, do not hold your fantasy draft in August.

There is so much that can go on from now until the last preseason game. Just look at our good friend Brett Favre.

If you had your fantasy league draft already, those with the steely resolve and keen insight into Favre’s inability to walk away were rewarded because it appears that the old gun-slinger’s return is imminent.

Others, who chose caution, either drafted a quarterback way too early, or will be rolling the dice on Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco or — heaven forbid — Jay Cutler (good luck with that offensive line in Chicago, Jay).

Some say that part of the fun is reacting like a real NFL GM. But since I am not paid like an NFL GM, I want to have all of the information at my disposal before doing a fantasy draft.
