If not Brett Favre, then how about Jeff Garcia?
Apparently that’s what the Vikings were thinking.
Garcia is always on the short list when teams running the west coast offense are in need of a quarterback, and it turns out the Vikings, doing their due diligence in the event Favre didn’t doesn’t return, put in a call.
“Minnesota had called him and said ‘if (Brett) Favre doesn’t play are you ready to go?,’” Garcia’s father, Bobby, told The Gilroy Dispatch. “But, you know what? Favre is going to play. I said, ‘(the Nighthawks) really want you and are willing to make you one of the marquee players in the league.’”
Garcia said he’s committed to playing for the UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks this season, although he hasn’t yet signed a contract.
Then again, the way Sage Rosenfels torched the Rams backups on Saturday, the Vikings might now be in more of a position to deal a quarterback if when Favre returns.
