Almost as quickly as we heard the Vikings did have interest in Jeff Garcia, we were told they didn’t. During his session with reporters on Monday, Vikings coach Brad Childress shot down the idea the Vikings thought about Garcia in the event you-know-who didn’t return.
“Anybody can say anything now and get it in front of people,” Childress said. “My answer is ‘No.’ No interest.”
One reporter asked Childress if there was only one 40-plus-year-old quarterback he was interested in.
“I think I only know one,” Childress responded. ”Is George Blanda still alive?”
Childress did confirm that Percy Harvin was back at practice, and indicated he would know by the end of the week if the second-year receiver would play on Sunday night against the 49ers. Childress indicated he plans to play the starters about one quarter, and said he anticipates seeing Adrian Peterson “a little bit.”
