The Broncos won’t be getting their first look at two rookie receivers in Sunday’s preseason opener against the Bengals. First-round pick Demaryius Thomas and third-round pick Eric Decker aren’t expected to play, the team announced via Twitter.
Both Thomas and Decker have missed practice time due to foot injuries.
The Broncos, however, are expected to get a look at RB Justin Fargas, who was signed last week. With their top three running backs — Knowshon Moreno (hamstring), Correll Buckhalter (back) and LenDale White (leg) — all sidelined, Fargas could see some time behind expected starter Lance Ball and Bruce Hall.
The Broncos, who have had a rash of training camp injuries, are also expected to hold out Brian Dawkins, Spencer Larsen, D.J. Williams, Dustin Fry, Chris Kuper, Elvis Dumervil and Jarvis Moss.
