The San Francisco 49ers got an injury scare when Pro Bowl TE Vernon Davis left Sunday’s game against the Colts with what coach Mike Singletary would later describe as a “knee strain.”
The injury — or near injury, as it sounds — by all accounts isn’t serious. According to Matt Maiocco of Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area, Davis didn’t have any ice on his knee following the game and indicated he didn’t think he would be out long.
According to various reports, Singletary didn’t indicate how much, if any, time Davis would miss.
The 49ers were already holding out Frank Gore and Patrick Willis against the Colts, both by coach’s decision.
Given the similar scare the Cardinals got with Larry Fitzgerald, maybe we’ve already seen the last of Davis this preseason.
