Crabtree, Willis ruled out for 49ers

Michael Crabtree and Patrick Willis are the most notable scratches for the 49ers in Sunday’s preseason opener against the Colts.

Crabtree traveled with the 49ers, according to Matt Maiocco of Comcast Sports Net Bay Area, but the receiver will be held out of the game after straining his neck during Wednesday afternoon’s practice. Willis, a Pro Bowl linebacker, is a healthy scratch.

The remaining inactives for the 49ers: K Joe Nedney, WR Brandon Jones, OLB Travis LaBoy, OLB Ahmad Brooks, C Eric Heitmann, CB Phillip Adams, RB Glen Coffee (who’s retiring) and DL Kentwan Balmer (absent from the team all week).
