Colts’ Manning has short, but effective, day of work

It’s Curtis Painter time. That means Peyton Manning’s day is done.

We’re receiving our first look at the Colts on Sunday against the 49ers — with a few exceptions — and all appears to be status quo with Manning. He completed 8 of 10 passes for 91 yards during two first-quarter series, spreading the ball to six different receivers while leading to Colts to 10 points.

Then he called it a day. As you’d expect, with just two games on the bill, this is what we’re watching.

The Colts held out several big names Sunday, including WR Pierre Garcon and TE Dallas Clark. Two others — SS Bob Sanders and DE Dwight Freeney —¬†also weren’t expected to play, according to The Indianapolis Star.
