The first week of preseason is drawing to a conclusion. Can you feel the excitement? We are that much closer to the start of fantasy football season. There are two games to keep track of while you gather the family for SummerSlam on Sunday.
- San Francisco at Indianapolis: This will be the first ever preseason action for WR Michael Crabtree. I am high on the second-year receiver, so I am anxious to see how early QB Alex Smith gets him into the mix.
The Colts are the Colts. You know what you are getting. But keep a lookout for WR Anthony Gonzalez, who is coming off a season-ending knee injury from last season. He is going to need a great preseason to get past Pierre Garcon and even Austin Collie. I don’t see it, but this is still something to watch.
- Denver at Cincinnati: QB Tim Tebow will see his first action. That does not have much to do with fantasy football, but still. RB Justin Fargas has recently signed with the Broncos, so keep an eye on the running back situation for the Broncos which has thinned because of injuries.
We all got a sneak peak at the Bengals last week in the Hall of Fame Game. QB Carson Palmer certainly looked for WR Terrell Owens. Do the two continue to build on that chemistry? Does Chad Ochocinco get into the mix? I am also optimistic about TE Jermaine Gresham. Then again, I was high on Ben Utecht a few years ago, too. Still, the Bengals have to produce a good fantasy TE at some point, right?
