Chargers’ line adapts to life without McNeill

What if LT Marcus McNeill and the Chargers don’t reach some sort of contract agreement to protect QB Phillip Rivers‘ backside?
Coach Norv Turner told NFL Network on Tuesday that the Bolts first will look in-house for a replacement, turning to second-year lineman Brandyn Dombrowski. Just in case, the club also added veteran free-agent LT Tra Thomas last month.
Dombrowski played in every game last season, and he started at right tackle after Jerome Clary went on the IR. Turner said Dombrowski is a good fit at left tackle.
Clary told the North County Times that the line is coping fairly well.
“We’ve got Kris Dielman at left guard, which makes us all rest a little easier,” Clary said. “He’s one of the best at his position, and whether Tra or Brandyn or someone else lines up at left tackle, Kris will make sure he’s ready to play at a high level. He takes his work very seriously, and he’ll make sure the job gets done on that side.”
